HBB Black 12U’s second tournament of the fall took them to Walnut Creek for Hardball North, and this group showed up ready to swing. Across three games, the Black 12U lineup piled up big innings, ran the bases with confidence, and capped the weekend with a 14-9 win on Sunday. Here’s how it all unfolded. 🐺

💥 Game 1: Six Runs in the First

HBB Black 12U wasn’t about to let a slow start linger on Saturday. After the opponent got on the board first, our guys answered immediately in the bottom of the first, sending a wave of hitters to the plate and scoring six runs on five hits to take a 6-2 lead. 🚀 The biggest blow came from Luca M, who singled to drive in two and flip the energy in the dugout.

The offense kept pushing in the second inning when Patrick L swiped home, a heads-up, aggressive play that showed exactly how much confidence this group plays with. ⚡ Patrick wasn’t done there, drawing three walks and stealing a second base on the day, a perfect example of the patient, tough at-bats that defined the weekend.

The bats were busy all game. Taavi Z, Will W, and Graham H each collected two hits, while Luca M and Graham Heach drove in two runs. The lineup worked nine walks as a team, showing real discipline at the plate, and Taavi Z took the ball to start the game, striking out two in his outing. 💪

Casey S came through at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 and driving in a run, while Luca M and Patrick L each added hits. 🏆 Game 3: Graham H Takes Over

If Saturday was the warm-up, Sunday was the breakout. HBB Black 12U came out firing against East Bay Cyclones Black, and the bats never cooled off.

It started in the very first inning. Luca M doubled to drive in a run, and Jacob C followed with a two-run double, giving HBB an early 4-0 lead. 🔥 Then came the second inning, a five-run, four-hit explosion that put the game in command. Andrew G singled to get it going, Graham H ripped a two-run single, and Luca M added another RBI single, with plenty of pressure on the bases the whole way around. In the third, Logan S singled to center field to push the lead to 10-2. 🌋

And then there was Graham H. 🌟 The star of the weekend finished with four RBIs on just two hits, a two-run single in the second and a triple in the fourth that kept the lead safe. It was a clutch, complete performance that gave HBB the momentum all the way to the final out.

The offense wasn’t a one-man show, either. HBB Black 12U finished with 14 hits, and Nico V, Taavi Z, Luca M, Will W, and Graham H each collected two hits. 💥 The Black 12U team stole six bases as well, with Will W and Graham Heach swiping multiple bags, putting constant pressure on the defense.

On the mound, Andrew G started and didn’t allow a single hit over two innings, striking out three. 🎯 Weston S, Patrick L, and Graham H each took a turn in relief to help finish it off. And in the field, HBB played clean, error-free baseball, with Jacob C handling a team-high four chances cleanly. 🧤
